What Is Mobile Marketing & Why Should You Care?
A lot of companies are looking for ways to advertise their products in a more personal way, and so far all of them have had problems with the process because it has proved either too expensive or not very efficient. However, since the dawn of the mobile phone and the messaging services, the same companies have managed to get into mobile marketing and provide with a simpler and cheaper way of getting to their potential clients.
Mobile marketing is a very simple concept. You, as a large company, pay a smaller one to send messages to people’s mobile phones. This usually costs a lot less than say, an advertising campaign that involves sales agents going from door to door and presenting with new products. It is also a lot more efficient because most of us tend to read our messages even when they come from an unknown number. I also think that this kind of advertising is a lot less invasive than calling me and keeping on the phone for half an hour talking about a product that I am probably not interested in. If I read the message and the product appeals to me I have a lot of options to actually get more information about that specific product and decide if I want to buy it or not.
Mobile marketing provides with a simple piece of information to the potential customer and if that information is interesting for the customer, he will go right ahead and ask more questions about the specific product. If not, well, you can just delete the message and it has not disturb you from any of your activities.
That is the beauty of mobile marketing, the fact that you are certain that the customer reads the message. In any other advertising campaign you can’t be certain that the customer has even noticed your ads. Mobile marketing is straight forward and the message is clear and simple.
So, this type of marketing combines a lot of positive aspects, from efficiency to low costs and comfort for the potential customer. In a lot of countries this has become a very common marketing strategy that seems to pay off really well for the mother company. It is also starting to grow in other, less developed countries, and I am sure that it is the way to go for any company in the future.
