10 SEO Techniques You Should Avoid!

If you have got a site then you already know the significance of traffic.
Traffic is to online marketing as location is to property. It’s the one thing that actually matters.
If you can’t generate targeted visitors to your site, you won’t make any sales. Sometimes the owner or designer of the internet site is the person delegated to push traffic to the site. The chief ingredient in generating traffic is the search site. Of course, you may use advertising, but it should cost. Using the search engines to generate focused ( interested in your product ) traffic is the least costly strategy known. Sadly , many website owners do not understand the significance of search site visibility, which leads to traffic. They put more significance on manufacturing a “pretty” internet site. Not this is bad, but it is truly secondary to search site placement. Hopefully, this next list of usual mistakes, manufactured by many web site owners, will help you generate better targeted traffic to your site…after all, isn’t that what you need.
1. Not using keywords efficiently. This is maybe one of the most vital area of site design. Choose the right keyphrases and possible customers will find your website. Use the incorrect ones and your website will see tiny, if any, traffic.
2. Repeating the same keywords. When you use the same keywords time after time again ( called keyword stacking ) the search engines may downgrade ( or skip ) the page or site.
3. Stealing pages from other internet sites. How often have you heard or read that “this is the web and it’s ok” to rob icons and text from web sites to use on your internet site. Do not do it. Its one thing to learn from others who’ve been there and another to outright copy their work. The search engines are very smart and customarily notice page duplication. They may even stop you from ever being listed by them.
4. Using keywords that aren’t related to your internet site. Many unethical site owners try to gain search site visibility by using keywords that don’t have anything at all to do with their web site. They lay not related keywords in a page ( like “sex”, the name of a known celebrity, the hot search subject of the day, and so on. ) within a meta tag for a page. The keyword has not got anything to do with the page subject. since the keyword is preferred, they think this could hike their visibility. This system is regarded spam by the search engines and may result in the page ( or occasionally the entire site ) to be removed from the search website listing.
5. Keyword stuffing. Rather like keyword stacking noted above, this implies to allot multiple keywords to the outline of a graphic or layer that appears on your site by employing the “alt=” HTML parameter. If the search engines find this text doesn’t truly describe the graphic or layer it is going to be considered spam.
6. Depending on concealed text. You may be inclined to believe that if you can’t see it, it does not hurt. Wrong…. Don’t attempt to hide your keywords or keywords by making them invisible. As an example, some unethical designers my set the keywords to an identical color as the background of the net page ; thus, making it invisible.
7. Counting on tiny text. This is another version of the item above ( counting on concealed text ). Don’t try and hide your keywords or keyword phrases by making them little. Setting the text size of the keywords so tiny that it can hardly be seen does this.
8. Presuming all search engines are the same. Many of us presume that each search website plays by the same rules. This isn’t so. Each has their own rule base and is subject to being changed whenever they so wish. Make it a point to find out what each major search engine needs for high visibility.
9. Using free website hosting. Do not use free web hosting if you’re truly serious about inflating site traffic thru search site visibility. Many times the search engines will eliminate content from these free hosts.
10. Forgetting to test for missing net page elements. Make efforts to check each page in your internet site for completeness, like missing links, graphics, and so on. There are sites on the internet which will do this freely.
These are just some of the SEO techniques that you certainly want to stay away from completely if you want to grow your site and your business over a period of time. It may take a bit longer to get noticed the traditional way but at least you will be sure that the results are there to stay and not a fluke fly by night type of result.
